Why Does the Scale Go Up Overnight?
You ate well yesterday. You walked. You skipped the late-night snack. Then you step on the scale the next morning — and somehow you’re two pounds heavier.

Frustrating?

First: Body Weight Is Not the Same as Body Fat
Your bathroom scale measures everything.

Fat.

Muscle.

Bone.

Water.

Food and fluid still inside your digestive system.

So when the number changes overnight, the scale cannot tell you what changed.

To actually gain two pounds of body fat in one day would generally require a very large sustained calorie surplus.

1. You Ate More Sodium Yesterday
